Lindsay Arnold's work addresses female identity and the role of women/expectations for women in society. Coach Hall suggested that I research her because her work contains similar ideas to what I am trying to convey in my work. Some of her work, especially her series "Tedium" which is a collection of paintings of doilies, is about how objects hold different meanings and can represent different experiences or memories. This is similar to the content of some of my pieces, which are about memory and how memories/experiences are recorded. I like her work because it shows how a deeper content can be incorporated into paintings of objects. My main goal for my art right now is to try and think of deeper and more challenging ideas to incorporate into my work to make it more interesting and powerful.
